Role Overview

Purpose of the Job

  • To provide both a reactive and pro-active, multi-skilled maintenance service for all operational equipment and site facilities.
  • To ensure all equipment is performing to the optimum levels.
  • To ensure all equipment meets acceptable safety standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician

  • Ensuring all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) is completed safely, cost effectively, on time and to a satisfactory standard.
  • Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager and being capable of acting as proxy if required.
  • Providing a service that ensures all mechanical and electrical equipment is running to optimum performance levels and that all departmental Service Level Agreement’s and Key Performance Indicators are met.
  • Reacting in a timely manner to maintenance requests.
  • Following common processes and standards within the engineering department including Safety, Quality, Environment, and Security.
  • Maximizing availability of all mechanical and electrical equipment through continuous improvement.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team based in Royton, Oldham.

As a Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician, you will be required to respond to breakdowns, carry out corrective tasks, and Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PPM’s) in accordance with all company policies and procedures on a daily basis whilst reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will work a 3 shift rotating pattern 06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 – 22:00, 22:00 – 06:00 (40 hrs/week)

Essential Skills

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or served a full engineering apprenticeship.
  • Background in tissue/paper converting, printing, or similar industries would be advantageous.
  • Significant practical engineering experience.
  • Proven knowledge/experience of PLCs including Siemens S5 and S7.
  • Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines (60/40 split).
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Significant experience of AC and DC motors and drives.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written & verbal) at all levels.
  • Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations.
