Position: Ocean Freight Export Operator
Location: Basildon
Hours: Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:30
Salary: £33,000 - £37,000 (DOE)

We are recruiting for an Ocean Freight Export Operator to join our client's expanding team.

The ideal candidate will specialise in all things ocean freight, from start to finish.

Your key responsibilities as Ocean Freight Export Operator:

Handling FCL and LCL exports from origin, on an end-to-end basis
Booking in jobs on the in-house system
Making bookings with shipping lines & submit provisional DGN's
Provide freight rates, quotes and pricing solutions for customers
Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines and various carriers
Track and update shipment statuses in the company's system and provide regular updates to clients
Load planning
Coordinate tasks on the shipments to meet all customer SOP requirements: booking approvals, processing pre-alerts, governmental filings, executing delivery, ensuring proper invoicing, etc.
Ensure compliance with export regulations and trade compliance laws
Liasise with customers and sales team to ensure we maximise efficiency
Developing good working relationships with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and our other branches
File closingRequirements:

End to end Ocean Freight Operations knowledge is ESSENTIAL
Experience working with a UK based freight forwarder
Working knowledge of the International freight forwarding industry.
Strong customs knowledge
Be able to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers and your wider team
Have a keen attention to detail
Develop trust and respect from colleagues & clients
Identify problems early & respond in a timely fashion
