Being a Field Engineer at London Gatwick, you are contributing to the development and growth of the world's most efficient runway airport. Working in a fast-paced, live environment, and offering development opportunities, you will have the chance to work with supportive and skilled colleagues who take pride in their work.

Key projects include replacing boilers with all-electric, non-fossil fuel plants and transitioning to refrigerants with lower global warming potential. Your role will be crucial in helping Gatwick achieve its sustainability goal of reducing emissions by 2030.

This is an excellent opportunity to directly observe and influence Gatwick's journey to Net Zero.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team of construction industry experts, you will be involved from the early stages of projects, defining technical scopes, aligning project delivery with business requirements, and ensuring these are carried through from design to construction and handover.

As a Field Engineer, you will work closely with the Project Management team to supervise multi-disciplined construction projects.

Your experience in a similar role, on £multi-million projects with a focus always on health and safety, will ensure you can successfully support across all phases of the project from planning and execution to completion and handover.

What's the role?

Reporting to the Programme Construction Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of complex projects across London Gatwick. Working closely with internal teams and contractors to ensure the successful completion of projects and being involved in the end-to-end process.

Other duties include:

* Taking the lead in managing any construction management resources assigned to you, helping to develop their skills, maintain quality standards and provide guidance and support.

* Delivering regular site safety engagement on responsible projects, to ensure an emphasis on and compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards and promoting a positive HSE culture

* Reviewing contractor CDM and quality and commissioning submittals for quality and compliance

* Inspecting work within to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications

* Coordinating with electrical and mechanical engineering colleagues to ensure all works are installed to plan

What are we looking for?

The live environment at Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with problem solving skills and an innovative outlook. Involved in projects from inception to completion you'll work alongside multiple stakeholders. In addition, this role requires:

* Educated to Degree level or equivalent in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical engineering

* Experience in on significant mechanical, electrical, plumbing and heating projects

* An understanding of the importance of controlling and managing the project close out and handover process

* Experience as a Senior Field Engineer or Section Engineer (airport experience is not essential) managing complex multi-year and £multi-million projects typically with a value of £15 million

* Understanding of handover and closeout of projects

* Experience in addressing HSE issues associated with construction

* Understanding and knowledge of quality management
