We are seeking an Economic Development Officer to join our client's team. This contract role focuses on regeneration within the borough, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the achievement of the Industrial Strategy and inclusive economy ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide support to the Business Services Manager and the wider Economic Development Team in the development and successful delivery of new approaches to business engagement and enterprise programmes and projects.
Offer capacity building support to business and enterprise support networks and act as a bridge between key business networks, such as BIDs, and various council service areas.
Ensure that residents the borough have access to support for starting, sustaining, and scaling new businesses, either through existing provision or by collaborating with colleagues and local stakeholders to co-design and commission new activities.
Support the development of a place-based approach to maintain and build relationships with existing and new businesses in the borough, fostering a resilient, vibrant, and inclusive local economy.

Job Requirements:

Experience in economic development, particularly in the context of regeneration projects.
Strong understanding of business engagement and enterprise programme development.
Capacity to support business and enterprise networks, facilitating collaboration and business-friendly practices within council service areas.
Ability to co-design and commission new business support activities in collaboration with local stakeholders.
Strong focus on building relationships with local businesses to support strategic economic growth within the borough.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in supporting capacity building within business networks.
Understanding of place-based economic development principles.
