About the Job

The Principal Design Engineer will lead the technical production and integration of engineering deliverables for assigned projects. This role requires a deep expertise in electrical engineering and the ability to oversee and integrate various design elements to ensure successful project completion.

Responsibilities:

* Serve as the technical authority within the business for electrical engineering.

* Review and approve electrical engineering designs within their area of expertise.

* Manage and integrate internally and externally produced designs, ensuring seamless collaboration between design teams.

* Lead the production of designs within their specialist field.

* Oversee the discharge of engineering duties under CDM, including managing design integration, promoting whole-life 'safety by design,' and compiling technical content for project health & safety files.

* Lead the requirements management process, including design verification in line with ISO 9001 principles.

* Embed value engineering throughout the design process.

* Draft technical specifications for procuring materials, equipment, and subcontracted engineering services.

* Identify OEM and supply chain technical solutions and innovations that meet project requirements.

* Support the Commissioning Manager with design and construction validation and quality assurance needs.

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

* Degree in electrical engineering.

* Chartered Electrical Engineer.

* Extensive experience in an infrastructure project design consultancy or design & build environment.

* Technical expertise in primary or secondary systems substation design or power systems network design.

* Experience in power transmission & distribution or renewable energy sectors, gained with an OEM, utility framework contractor, ICP, EPC contractor, or design consultancy.
