We are a leading recruitment agency specialising in the placement of skilled professionals within the social care sector. We are currently representing a highly respected organisation in their search for a Registered Manager for their children's home in Trowbridge. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

Purpose:
To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and ensure that the quality of care provided is consistent with the Children's Homes Regulations and the Quality Standards. The role involves establishing and maintaining a competent, motivated, and confident staff team and offering leadership, managerial direction, guidance, and support to staff at all levels. The Registered Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the home's policies and procedures are adhered to, and resources are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Fulfil the role of the Registered Manager as defined within the Care Standards Act, which may include travel within the UK.
Deliver on the content of the Certificate of Registration and the Statement of Purpose for the establishment.
Protect children and young people from risks to their health, welfare, and normal development, both inside and outside the home.
Ensure the home environment is managed in line with all Health and Safety requirements, and this is reflected in monitoring, reporting, and recording functions.
Use the residential experience as a means of support and social learning for children and young people.
Promote the involvement of all children and counter isolation of individuals by others.
Ensure key stages in the stay of children and young people, such as admission and discharge, are properly managed and reflect decisions recorded in care plans.
Provide appropriate additional support to children facing crises and stresses, and support staff in dealing with complex cases.
Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of individual children's care plans.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with parents, other family members, social workers, school staff, and other professionals.
Ensure that specific needs, such as dietary requirements and religious observances, are met.
Encourage and support children and young people to take responsibility for their own lives, commensurate with their age and ability.
Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations (2015) and the Quality Standards.
Ensure that each young person has a care plan that reflects their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs, and that this plan is regularly reviewed.
Allocate a Key Worker for each young person with the principal responsibility of implementing the care plan.
Establish and monitor high-quality standards of care in line with Quality Standards and the Home's Statement of Purpose, and develop quality assurance measures to ensure these standards are maintained.
Develop systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive.
Progress any complaints or child protection concerns, working in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals.
Attend and contribute to child care planning and review meetings as appropriate.Managing People:

Provide leadership, guidance, and management to staff.
Oversee the deployment and control of staff on a day-to-day basis, including performance management.
Participate in recruitment, monitoring, training, retention, and mentoring of staff.
Ensure all staff appraisals are carried out annually and supervise staff directly accountable to the post holder.
Create a positive and supportive culture within the staff team, promoting professional development and qualifications.
Ensure compliance with company policies in relation to staff induction, probationary periods, and ongoing training.
Manage staff motivation and morale, addressing issues related to conduct and competence.Managing Finance:

Monitor ongoing expenditure and report to line management.
Ensure staff operate the petty cash system within required guidelines.Managing Resources:

Maintain a safe environment, complying with health and safety and other legal requirements.
Ensure the fabric of the building, its grounds, and equipment are well-maintained.
Manage physical, financial, and human resources effectively.
Utilise community resources appropriately.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and effective budget management.Personal Responsibilities:

Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those on Tri-X.
Report bad practices to a line manager or other appropriate person.
Participate in the on-call system.
Contribute to the development of the company through the Heads of Homes Group.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the statutory and procedural framework for residential care.
