Salary: £90 - £95/day

Progress Teachers is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-16 in a mainstream secondary school setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, including refugee students who may face behavioural challenges and language barriers.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work 1:1 and in small groups with students who have special educational needs (SEN), providing tailored support based on individual needs.

* Assist students with behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties to help them engage with their learning.

* Support refugee students with settling into the school environment, overcoming language barriers, and managing behavioural challenges.

* Assist in the development and implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring that they are followed and adapted as necessary.

* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for the students.

* Provide feedback to teaching staff and parents/guardians on student progress and areas for development.

About You:

* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably within a SEN environment.

* Experience with behavioural management and de-escalation techniques.

* Understanding of the challenges faced by refugee students and a passion for supporting them.

* Ability to complete and manage EHCPs effectively.

* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.

* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

Requirements:

* Enhanced DBS check (or willing to undergo the process).

* Right to work in the UK.

* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
