Our client, an innovative engineering firm, is seeking a passionate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in the full lifecycle of machine design—from initial concept through to commissioning and testing, often in a multi-disciplinary team setting. This role requires travel, as some projects may involve working abroad or offshore.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop conceptual designs based on process definitions.

* Design layouts for mechanical and hydraulic machinery.

* Conduct stress and other calculations to validate designs.

* Collaborate with project teams across multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, hydraulic, maritime, materials).

* Support machine build, commissioning, and testing phases.

* Work closely with control and software engineers for seamless machine interfacing.

* Assist in preparing customer proposals and sales activities.

* Provide support to the customer service team as required.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering with sound engineering principles.

* Demonstrated experience in a mechanical design role, ideally with low-volume, high-value machinery.

* Knowledge of fabrication design and a solid understanding of geometric tolerances, limits, fits, weld symbols, and surface finish.

* Practical engineering experience with a strong enthusiasm for innovation.

* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a customer-focused mindset.

* Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
