Overview:A varied accounting role, supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for several varied business units. This is a hands-on role, enabling the jobholder to get involved with many aspects of accounting and forecasting.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for one or more business units.
- Ensuring all reporting is value-adding, of a high quality, accurate, and produced to agreed timescales.
- General ledger postings to SAP ensuring allocation to correct GL codes, cost centres and projects.
- Ensuring income and costs are accounted for in the correct accounting period, including identifying prepayments and accruals.
- Preparing reconciliations of general ledger and intercompany accounts, proactively identifying and resolving accounting issues, following up exceptions and ensuring accurate and up to date SAP ledgers.
- Conducting expenditure analysis and control, including supporting Management Accountants with feedback to cost centre managers, as required.
- Supporting cash and treasury reporting to Group.
- Assisting with and developing improvements to process efficiency, proactively automating activities.
- Gaining an understanding of main profit drivers in each business.
- Preparing VAT returns.
- Preparing corporations tax analysis for external advisors.
- Supporting external and internal audit processes.
- Ad hoc other projects as required.
Skills:
- Part Qualified Accountant.
- Positive "can do" attitude and hunger for knowledge/experience.
- Ability to work though new accounting scenarios referring back to first principles of double entry.
- Strong reconciliation skills.
- Strong excel, data manipulation and reporting skills.
- Good communication (both oral and written).
- Able to juggle tasks and priorities within a fast-paced environment.

The potential for the opportunity for development into a Management Accountant role on gaining appropriate experience and full Accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
