Job Purpose/Summary:

This role ensures newly designed products are effectively productionised, enabling the manufacturing team to achieve quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Main Responsibilities/Key Tasks:

* Deliver all elements of Manufacturing Engineering through the New Product Introduction process in line with company and product quality standards, including ISO 9001.

* Provide robust designs and processes to the Manufacturing team, ensuring estimated product yield, quality, and labor times are achievable.

* Work as part of a cross-functional design team, championing and executing design for manufacturing from initial design concept through to product release.

* Engage and encourage the use of continuous improvement tools and champion lean manufacturing throughout the Operations team.

* Bring a proactive and process-driven approach to identifying areas of improvement in processes with regard to quality, cost, and days to manufacture.

* Specify and procure new equipment in line with the demands of new products and manufacturing processes.

* Contribute to resource estimates for new projects.

* Manage time effectively across multiple NPI projects and clearly communicate progress against plan to the wider team.

* Design and input manufacturing routings with the company's MRP system.

* Work alongside the Production support team to achieve departmental targets and KPIs.

* Establish an understanding across a large portion of the product portfolio, developing manufacturing knowledge.

* Proactively approach personal development and stay interested in new manufacturing technologies relevant to the company

* Develop detailed and accurate work instructions in CAD and written documents.

* Must be able to acquire security clearance for MoD/Military access.

Requirements:

Essential:

* Degree / HND Qualified in a relevant subject

* Competent in electronic fault finding and manufacturing tasks such as soldering and electrical wiring

* Understanding of safe working practices in a factory environment

* Practiced in root cause investigation and problem-solving such as 8D

* Computer literate and proficient in word processing and other document systems

* Ability to create accurate work instructions for product manufacturing, reviewing processes to improve them when possible

* Ability to communicate complex problems across business levels and departments

Desirable:

* Knowledge of programming languages and PLCs

* 2+ years Electrical/Electronic Practical Production Engineering Experience

* Experience with continuous improvement techniques, such as Lean Manufacturing
