About the School:

The small independent school located near Harrow, offering specialised education for students aged 5 to 12. They focus on supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing environment to help them achieve their full potential.

Job Responsibilities:

* Support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality education tailored to the individual needs of SEMH students.

* Assist in creating and implementing personalised learning plans for students.

* Provide emotional and behavioural support to students, helping to create a safe and positive learning environment.

* Monitor student progress and report on their development to the teaching staff.

* Engage students in learning activities while promoting social skills and positive interactions.

* Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure consistency in support strategies.

* Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.

* Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Essential Qualifications:

* Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.

* Strong knowledge and understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support these students.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

* Commitment to the ethos, values and policies of the School.

Desired Experience:

* Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs within a school setting.

* Experience in providing support to individual students or small groups.

* Background in specialist education or psychology would be beneficial but is not essential.

* A minimum of one year's experience supporting students with SEMH and or, challenging behaviour.
