Payroll Assistant, Maidstone

Salary - £30,000

  • Execute a full range of payroll responsibilities, handling annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly payrolls.
  • Prepare and draft essential payroll documents, such as pay slips, P45s, and P60s.
  • Process Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to HMRC as required, including end-of-year RTI submissions.
  • Manage end-of-year processing and reconciliation tasks.
  • Apply tax code changes accurately.
  • Process payroll for new starters, leavers, absences, statutory leave, and pay.
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, National Insurance (NI), and pension contributions.
  • Follow and contribute to refining payroll delivery processes.
  • Serve as the first line of support for payroll-related queries.
  • Support the finance team with general tasks, including reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end processes.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a high-volume payroll environment.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C or above, with a solid grasp of UK payroll legislation and compliance.
  • Strong initiative and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities to convey information effectively across the organisation.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • A collaborative team player with a flexible, can-do attitude.
