Finance Assistant
  • Hourly rate £14.00- 15.00 per hour PAYE or £17.17- £18.45 per hour via an umbrella company.
  • Location: Banstead, Surrey
  • Job Type: 30 hours per week, flexible on 4 or 5 days a week
  • Working pattern: at least 2 days in the office, hybrid working. 
  • Temporary assignment until end of May 2025. 

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Assistant to provide comprehensive financial transactional and administrative support within our regional schools. This role is crucial for assisting the Finance Manager/Senior Finance Manager in the production of accurate monthly reporting packs and ensuring efficient financial operations across the schools.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support the delivery of regional monthly financial reports and KPI monitoring for school leaders and the central finance team.
  • Responsible for all transactional postings except for the purchase ledger.
  • Process nominal postings and assist in control account reconciliations.
  • Assist in IMP input and monthly salary checks.
  • Manage, control, and monitor income, including school trips, lettings, nursery, and before/after school club income.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the regional finance team, liaising closely with school-based colleagues as required.
  • Support school administration teams with information necessary to facilitate communications with parents and carers.
  • Undertake other tasks commensurate with the grade of the role under the guidance of the Regional Finance Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in financial administration or a similar role.
  • Ideally experience of working within finance within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and transactional accounting.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing workloads and responsibilities.
Due to the nature of this client, you will be required to have a DBS in place before you start the role and also undertake some safeguarding exercises.
