Materials Planner

Location: Speke, Liverpool
Start Date: 6th January
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Contract type: Temporary for approximately 6 weeks, though the duration may extend based on circumstances.
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM - 4:45 PM, Friday: 8:30 AM - 3:45 PM, 36.5 hours per week

About the Role:
We are seeking a temporary Materials Planner with experience in a bulk manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective planning, procurement, and management of materials to support production schedules while maintaining optimal stock levels. This position offers the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage MRP and planning systems, including minimum, maximum, and reorder quantities.
Monitor and react to daily MRP outputs, placing purchase and batch orders with internal and external suppliers.
Develop and update forecasts, adapting plans to address material shortages.
Use reporting tools to analyse material usage patterns and define product categories (Make to Order, Make to Stock).
Monitor and maintain stock levels, addressing slow-moving, non-moving, and expired materials.
Collaborate with the production scheduler to ensure seamless planning and cross-functional updates.
Extract, analyse, and present data in charts or presentations to monitor planning activities and targets.
Conduct root cause analysis for process issues, such as stock discrepancies and stock rotation challenges.
Work closely with customer services, production, and suppliers to manage end-to-end processes.
Support other areas within Supply Chain as needed and participate in continuous improvement projects.
Experience and Skills Required:
Relevant experience in planning within a bulk manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in MRP systems and data analysis tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing material shortages and discrepancies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Experience in CI (Continuous Improvement) projects is advantageous.
