The Role

As our Plant & Transport Compliance Manager, you play a critical role in ensuring full compliance across our fleet and plant operations. You'll be responsible for maintaining high standards of legal, safety and operational compliance in line with regulatory frameworks and will work closely with our Plant and Health & Safety teams to implement robust procedures, manage audits and drive continuous improvement across our vehicle and equipment operations.

Responsibilities

* Ensure all transport operations adhere to relevant legal and safety regulations, including hours of service, vehicle maintenance and driver qualifications

* Oversee vehicle maintenance, ensuring all vehicles and plant are serviced and maintained to the specification outlined under the manufactured guidelines and Operator licence conditions

* Ensure drivers have the necessary licences, are properly trained, and comply with all regulations regarding hours of service and working time rules

* Liaise with relevant third-party service providers to ensure all daily defects, breakdowns and punctures on our vehicles and plant are registered and dealt with in the relevant timeframe

* Manage the yearly maintenance planner

* Manage vehicle requirements for all relevant departments across specific contracts

* Ensure compliance with legislative obligations of the Operator's licence within the defined area/region

* Highlight, record and notify the relevant managers of any departments failing to comply with the Company Policies and Directives relating to Road Transport and Dangerous Goods

* Maintain an updated fleet inventory and fixed asset register including current asset locations

* Communicate compliance requirements to drivers and other staff members

* Ensure all MOT results are reported, and any failures are investigated

The Person

* Highly Organised: Great at keeping on top of multiple deadlines, audits, reports and policy updates

* Strong Communicator: Can confidently explain compliance procedures to drivers, managers and external auditors, whether coaching someone on best practices or enforcing policies

* Decisive & Assertive: Not afraid to step in when something isn't right, ensuring all rules are adhered to without compromise

* Proactive Problem-Solver: Comfortable investigating root-causes and implementing preventative measures, not just responding to issues when they occur

* Team Player: Work well with operations, drivers, maintenance and Health & Safety teams to ensure compatibility with other departments

Technical Skills & Experience

* Previous experience working as a Transport Compliance Manager, or similar role within a fast-paced and dynamic business

* Knowledge of UK and EU road transport legislation including those related to vehicle maintenance, driver qualifications and hours of service

Qualifications & Training

* Holding a Transport Manager CPC will be beneficial but isn't essential
