Astute's Power team is partnered with a leading energy company to recruit a Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Technician for their Gas Power Station in Rochester, Kent.

The vital Controls and Instrumentation Technician role comes with a salary of up to £45,100 + skills shortage allowance of 10% + Bonus + Overtime + other excellent benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Support Engineer you will be responsible for:
Carrying out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance duties on all control and instrumentation equipment across the site.
Fault finding/maintaining instrumentation (Pressure, temperature, level, flow etc)
Maintaining the DCS/PLC equipment
Maintaining the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)
Assisting in plant shutdowns and outages
Ensuring all work is carried out in line with company health and safety policies and procedures.
Maintaining accurate maintenance records via the site's computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Ideally an NVQ Level 3 qualification and above in a relevant Engineering discipline such as, Controls and Instrumentations, Electrical/Electronics, etc.
Ideally have a COMPEX certificate
Ideally a H&S qualification such as an IOSH

Personal skills, prior experience and knowldge
The Controls and Instrumentation Technician role would suit someone who has:
Prior experience in a maintenance role within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power (CCGT, OCGT, Energy from Waste, Biomass, CHP, etc), Paper Mills, Pharmaceutical, Refineries, etc.
Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Knowledge of control and instrumentation equipment such as: Process measurement instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, PH etc.), pneumatic control valves and equipment, CompEx and SIL systems, PLCs, distributed control (DCS) and industrial network communications
This role could suit an electrically/C&I biased Royal Navy Marine Engineer from LET level and above

Salary and benefits of the C&I Technician role
Basic salary between £39,400 - £45,100
10% skills shortage allowance (applied on top of basic salary)
Up to 8% Bonus
Retention bonus based on years of service
Overtime
Other excellent benefits
