Engineering Buyer – Selby – Competitive Salary + Bonus + CIPS

The ideal candidate with possess strong negotiation skills and mechanical or electrical procurement experience within an engineering or manufacturing sector.

Engineering Buyer Duties:

• Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to continuously enhance cost-effectiveness, quality, and continuity of supply
• Identify and source components based on quality and price
• Collect data and report supplier KPIs
• Working closely with the Technical Department to support ongoing projects
• Understands price analysis and interrogate suppliers’ prices to determine value for money
• Collaborate closely with suppliers and subcontractors to expedite deliveries, ensuring that promised shipment dates are met and disruptions to our production schedule are minimised

Hours: Full time Monday – Friday

Required skills & experience:

• A proven background in purchasing electrical or mechanical components in the engineering or manufacturing sector (essential)
• Skilled negotiator with a track record of securing favourable terms and conditions
• Proficiency in IT systems, knowledge of SAP would be an advantage but not essential
• It would be beneficial to be able to read engineering drawings or BOM and identify critical aspects of a specification
