We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, including attachment difficulties. This role will involve helping the child engage with the curriculum, manage their emotions, and build positive relationships in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEN, SEMH needs, and attachment challenges, helping them navigate the school day and engage with learning activities.

Assist the class teacher in implementing individualised learning plans, ensuring that the child's academic and emotional needs are met.

Offer consistent emotional support, helping the child develop strategies to manage emotions and behaviour in a positive way.

Foster a trusting and secure relationship with the child, providing a safe and supportive space to help them build confidence and social skills.

Support the child in managing transitions and changes throughout the school day, helping them feel secure and settled.

Collaborate with the SENCO, class teacher, and other professionals to assess the child's progress and make any necessary adjustments to their support plan.

Provide additional classroom support when required, ensuring that the learning environment is inclusive and positive for all students.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Experience working with children with SEN and SEMH needs, particularly those with attachment difficulties.

A strong understanding of how to support children with emotional and behavioural challenges, including the ability to implement de-escalation and self-regulation strategies.

Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, including collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents.

A proactive and flexible attitude, with a commitment to helping the child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required for this role, or a willingness to obtain one.
