TVDC Transport Manager

We are seeking a Transport Manager to join our state of the art distribution centre, where you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the TVDC Transport Department Operation, ensuring full and clear compliance in line with the Goods Vehicle Operator Licence and the DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme, as well as being responsible for the management of the BT Warehouse & Delivery function.

About the Role

Reporting into the Operations Manager - Transport & Facilities, you will be responsible for the following to ensure the smooth daily running of each area of the transport operation in line with Service Levels and KPI's :

• Adhering to the requirements of the Operator License
• Ensuring customer satisfaction is maintained through the efficient delivery and collection of merchandise and that the delivery crews uphold company policies and image at all times.
• Working with the Distribution team, it will be important for the job holder to obtain a clear understanding of the various selling departments the company operates.
• Working with the Transport Trainer & Compliance to ensure all staff are trained and adhere to all legal and company requirements with reference to vehicles, equipment and company policies.
• Working with the Transport Trainer & Compliance, in ensuring the Harrods fleet vehicles are maintained and in good working order by instigating regular service reports as required by the Department of Transport, along with ensuring that drivers are carrying out daily defect checks and the Transport Management team are carrying out gatehouse checks
• Ensuring there are no infringements of the Road and Traffic Acts and acting on any when they do occur
• Responsible for ensuring insurance claims are initiated and accident reports are followed up with investigations
• Ensuring all Health and Safety procedures and legislation relating to Transport are adhered to.
• Regular liaison with the BT third party delivery contractors.
• Ensuring that all Transport administration is compliant and fully up to date

About You

You will hold a National Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Transport Operations and demonstrate a continuous personal development plan, including bi-annual Transport Management learnings. You will have thorough knowledge of SAP, various Microsoft programmes and Microlise. You will have a good understanding of Continuous Improvement and set an outstanding example to the team ensuring that standards and disciplines remain at the highest levels. You will be an excellent communicator who has the ability to adapt styles to suit differing situations at any level throughout the business both verbally and written communication, as well as be able to motivate a team to succeed.
