Supply Chain & Retail

Pharma - On Demand

The On-Demand business is a specialist medical supply business that sources and distributes pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and consumable supplies to healthcare professionals in over 160 countries worldwide. We have offices in Ireland, UK, Europe, USA and New Zealand. The company's main divisions encompass everything from International Sales through Sales to NGO's and Charities, Clinical Trials Supply, Imported (Unlicensed Medicines), Sexual Health Supplies, and the storage and distribution of medical products and devices for third parties.

The role

Durbin is one of the world's leading specialist medical suppliers and an integral part of Uniphar's Product Access division. Established over 50 years ago, Durbin offers a bespoke distribution platform to provide patients with access to unlicensed and speciality medicines in over 160 countries. With offices and warehousing in the UK, Europe and USA, Durbin prides itself on being a trusted global partner to healthcare manufacturers.

Durbin has grown rapidly over the last five decades and our multi-lingual workforce includes pharmacists, medical engineers, and nurses, as well as commercial, warehouse and logistics staff.

Durbin are currently looking for a Logistics Clerk to join their pharmaceutical operations team.

Objective:

To support all operational activities, to ensure the efficient and safe distribution of all products to and from Durbin UK facilities.

Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day logistics functions, to ensure company's targets and objectives are met to meet customer requirements, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and within standard operating procedures and within GDP guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • To enter all necessary data on to the in-house computer system.
  • To communicate with customers, suppliers and service providers via telephone, e-mail.
  • To organise, manage and file own paperwork.
  • To carry out general office duties.
  • To share the responsibility for data-entry along with other members of the department.
  • To complete the 'Track and Trace' process and update internal system.
  • To carry out the despatch process including preparing documents using the Durbin in-house system.
  • To raise Airway Bills and prepare all other relevant logistics paperwork.
  • To prepare all labels and labelling for despatch of goods.
  • Arrange product collections where required.
  • Manage customs clearance process for import and export using approved partners.
  • To prepare all necessary paperwork for various courier, freight, and shipping services.
  • To prepare invoices using the Durbin in-house system.
  • To provide an excellent level of service to all internal and external customers.
  • Other duties which may be reasonably required from time to time by company managers, including delegated duties during the absence of colleagues.
  • Additional hours (to contractual hours) may be required to meet tight deadlines
  • Assisting internal colleagues with queries and concerns.
  • To carry out the relevant GDP SOPs as instructed by the RP of the Company.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Previous experience working in a pharmaceutical environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of Incoterms 2020
  • Previous experience of working with ERP and TMS systems.
  • Knowledge of UK and International customs processing
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods freight controls.
  • Freight experience, sea, air and road.
  • GDP experience

Skills:

  • Previous logistics routines experience - organising and receiving of shipments
  • Good understanding of warehouse and distribution
  • Knowledge of freight documentation.
  • Fast and accurate data entry skills.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and result orientated.
  • Working in a team and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Pro-active approach.
  • Flexible approach to work including weekends if required.
