Who we are

We’re not just talking about making a difference, we’re making it happen. We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals.

You’ll be joining our teams of practical doers, future thinkers and business champions. We’re enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future for all, and working hard to decarbonise the planet for generations to come.

About the role

The role will require you to manage routine inspection and maintenance of all systems to ensure that our Hydro power stations meet all statutory and legislative requirements and remain efficient and reliable to maximise opportunities for commercial running.

This will include supporting the design and implementation of inspection and monitoring plans for short-, medium- and long-term asset integrity of all electrical plant, control systems, instruments & associated systems.

You’ll also provide essential input into E, C&I projects from project identification, initiation, development and tendering through to delivery processes.

This role covers all plants within Hydro which includes 8 conventional hydro stations (126MW) and a pumped storage station (420MW). The stations are located from Tongland at the Solway Firth to Cruachan that is situated on the banks of Loch Awe approximately 180 miles apart.

On average you’ll be expected to attend one of the sites per week with some office attendance at the Glasgow office for team collaboration. This role also allows for some home working. We don’t offer a car allowance, but mileage will be paid from your home to the site location (excluding the Glasgow office). A valid UK driving licence is essential for this role.

Who we’re looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll have a strong background in Electrical/ E, C&I Engineering. Previous experience in Hydro or the wider power generation sector would be ideal.

You’ll also hold a degree or HNC in Electrical or E, C&I Engineering. Ideally, you’ll also hold Chartered Engineer status (or be working towards this) with a relevant institute such as the IET. A NEBOSH or IOSH certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent would also be beneficial.

You’ll need highly developed communications and negotiation skills and be able to form effective working relationships and persuade others to help solve problems.
