About the company

Contechs are recruiting on behalf of their client who's mission is to drive technological advancements within the mobility sector. They are seeking an experienced Tailgate Design Engineer on a Contract basis. The role will be based in Warwick.

Job Description

Your main responsibilities are:

• 7+ years of Automotive Design experience in Closures or Exterior systems within Tailgate systems, Bonnet Systems, Hood, Exterior Doors, Bumpers, Grilles, Fenders, Spoilers,
• 2+ years' experience designing tailgate systems.
• 5+ years' experience using CATIA V5
• 5+ years Sheet Metal part design, composite part design, plastic injection moulded parts experience.
• 2+ years' experience in a CAD lead or senior CAD or CAD manager role.
• Knowledge of Exterior methodologies and general requirements (Industry best practice and legislation)
• Experience in working to requirements and design rules and iterating following CAE / virtual test analysis and feedback.
• Releasing experience including 2d drawings and GD&T.
• Forward thinker and advocate of innovation and new technologies.
• Self-motivated to deliver excellence and excellent communicator.
• Experience liaising with suppliers and incorporating DFM and stamping, pressing, Moldflow feedback

Nice to Have Criteria

• Experience designing composite parts
• High end SUV experience
• BEV / EV experience
• Ideally has worked in several closures commodities (e.g. Hood and Doors, Spoilers and Bumpers)
• Start-up experience
